About me
I grew up on my family ranch in Dubois, Wyoming. One day as young children my brother and I were chased by a momma moose while riding double on our old horse, Solitaire. After about ¾ of a mile being chased we were able to get off the horse and dart into a cabin where we called our mom for help on a landline telephone (before cell phones and bear spray!). Our mom’s response was “figure it out”. As a kid it was disappointing our mom would not come help us with this crazy moose instead we were told to “figure it out”.
Now as an adult and mother of my own child and a devoted wife I have figured out a lot! As my desire to take night photos grew and my asks for help from local photographers hit closed doors, I was once again faced with quite or figure it out.
While on this night photography journey I led educational treks for the Dubois Museum for almost a decade. I took hundreds of people to some amazing places. As my desire for night photography grew, I attended nightscape photography conferences and I sought private instruction. It was so nice to be in a community of photographers who wanted to help people learn.
I have since became a growing nightscape photographer who wants to share my photos with others and how I captured them. I have taught others how to capture the Milky Way. I have friends that join me on occasion, so I am not alone. Being alone in Northwest Wyoming can be unnerving given our critters that roam. (Side note, YES I have had very close encounters with grizzly bears while taking my night photos!) I love the silence and the night sky. I really love sharing those experiences and having good friends to laugh with in the stillness of the night.
